Fly…

I have been suffering from insomnia and have been waking at like 4 in the morning lately. Awful, but I have been trying to make the most of it. I decided to make this sweet little set over the last 2 mornings awake.
I am rededicating more of my time in the sewing room to crafting things for my children and gifts. I plan to still offer items for sale occasionally, but I am working to keep my love for sewing and my humble little business more in check. I so enjoy the blessing of sharing the items I make not only with my children, but with other little girls too. I think that is what I love so much about making things, is watching the art of these beautiful fabrics come to life when a child dances, and twirls, and comes alive in them knowing that something was handcrafted just for them. I love that I can do that! In fact, I was originally intending this one as a OOAK to offer on ebay or etsy, but Ava came into the sewing room and told me…ooohhh…that is so beautiful…mommy, that my dress??? That put things even more into the perspective I have been trying to seek lately.

Isn’t this little bird so cute…It is actually a digital scrapbooking element from Shabby Princess that I printed off and traced onto the fabric. Another great use for digi stuff!

I love you sweet Ava! Thanks for letting me share my lil sweetie with you!

While her little sisters slept, Ella & I took advantage of some one-on-one time to “do a project.” This little one loves to get in and work. Today we did some embroidery. I tried to convince her that a flower or a heart would be a good first project, but she insisted upon Peter Pan. I didn’t argue…& I am treated with this sweet little memory that is priceless to me.
I am also thankful for the “reality check” lately that has put my little life with 3 very young babes into perspective. Vulnerable to the little creative devil that sits on my shoulder…(trying to constantly lure my attention in so many different directions)…I am happy to be working hard to be focusing more & more on making the most of my days at home with my kiddos. (read: I would sew, craft, get lost in the computer much of the day somedays if I could…so I am keeping it more in check!) I am thankful for the blessing of days like these…

The Conversation:

Mommy: Hi Ella…

Child: Mommy, why you got a tear in your eye?

Mommy: I dunno…I am just having a little bit of a hard day…

Child: Are you Sad?

Mommy: (looking out the window into backyard) No, I am not sad…

Child: Is that tear just cuz you wanna play in the sprinklers?

Summer is sweetly passing along…and we are welcoming a fresh new season of our lives in this new home. The sprinkler joy has just begun. The sod came yesterday…the sprinklers are working (good job Jason), and the girls have claimed their backyard…finally! (Now you try to tell these little girls they need to keep off it for 7-10 days)!

Mommy: How many sisters do you have?

Ella: There are 3 sisters (including herself I assume).

Mommy: How many kids is Mommy gonna have?

Ella: 4…5…6…

Ava: (yelling from the back seat) 7…8….9….10!

Moral: Do NOT leave the family planning up to the kids! Yikes! I need a nap…
