tonight before we tucked Ava away in her bed…she curled up next to her daddy in the family room…her eyes were heavy and I asked her what the color of her day would be tomorrow…
she told me…
“purple”…

May 14th…purple is the color of her day…the color of her birthday…
…today is Ava’s 4th birthday!
My girls are very attentive to details and I love to make their day special…I am thinking our home will be adorned with some special purple balloons for my little one…

as sort of a family tradition, the night before we celebrate birthdays we all take a turn telling the birthday girl what we love about her…

Daddy told her he loves her spunky personality and all the ways that she makes him laugh with all the fun things that she does…

Mommy told her that she loves how sweet Ava is on their “mommy Ava” dates…how much I love her silliness and how strong she is…

Ella told her that she remembers coming to visit Ava in the hospital when she was born (ella was just shy of 15 months old)…she reached out to Ava and said…
“Oh, I love my Ava girl…I am so glad you are my sister”…(LOVE and appreciate these sweet sister moments…) and followed it up with a big hug…

I asked Mia to share what she loves about Ava and she mumbled something as she sucked on her bottle and cuddled up to me on the couch…
I am guessing she said…”I love playing with you..and on you..and over you“…these two really are cute little playmates…most of the time…![]()

ava brings so much beauty to our lives…she is very feisty…but also very peaceful and sweet…

a few pics out in the yard on her last day being…

before she can proudly say she is…

While Adam took a nap after dinner, Ava and I snuck out for a few minutes to play with a new lens and put her in the spotlight for some birthday pics…
A little alone time with all of my girls is very important to me…I have been working hard to maintain a good balance sharing my attention with all the girls since Adam has come.
My days are full…and the balance is as delicate as ever…I find myself feeling the most satisfied at the end of the day when I spend little time doing things for me…and slowing to be present with them…{yes it really is the middle of the night…waited for everyone to be asleep to work on the computer
}
I loved this little outing with Ava…

(ava’s little abrasion on her chin came when she was attempting to evade “time out” and ran as fast as should could into the living room and dove onto the couch…only she kinda missed and hit her chin on the frame of the couch…I figured that was a worse punishment…poor girl!)

we love you ava…I can’t imagine a day of my life without your vibrancy and strength…one thing I always remember my Mom teaching me is how important it is to treat our children as we would want to be treated. I think it is easy to want to mold our children into routines and behaviors, forgetting how important it is to nurture their individual personalities…Ava reminds me all the time how important that is. She has such a creativity to her…AND she can be tricky sometimes and I am thankful to be her Mother…I love her so much!

wishing you a beautiful birthday Ava Olivia…

we all love you…

enjoy your purple day…my four year old…
xoxo
