{the launch}

we have been collecting butterflies at home…

you see…grandma has been feeling a little sick getting rid of all this cancer…

and we have not been able to go and see her as much as we want to.

The girls’ great-granparents and aunt Lori made a very special butterfly garden up at my Mom’s house, so that we could send her love and messages whenever we want by sending our little butterflies up to her…

today we decided to send some to her…today was her 3rd round of chemo.

My mom has been fighting hard and this chemotherapy has been a bit rough on her.  She has had a few bumps in her road, but still is smiling and getting all this cancer out of her body.

Today we are thinking of her…

i packed adam up on my chest…threw the girls in all their “we are stomping through weeds” boots and we took our butterflies out to set them free to find grandma’s house.

Each of the girls sent a sweet message with their butterflies…

Ella’s butterflies are bringing this message to grandma…

“I got the principal’s award at school this week.

My teacher said so many nice things about me…that I am a”joy” to have in class…she also said that if she ever has a daughter, she would want her to be just like Ella.

My mom said that made her want to cry.  I am doing well, grandma.  I love school and I hope to come visit you soon. I love you”

Ava’s are saying…

“I love you grandma.

I am going to be a cowgirl for Halloween.

I went to the fabric store with mommy and picked out all my fabric myself.

I have an aqua cowgirl hat.  I miss you.  I love you.”

Mia’s butterflies hopefully will know how to translate “Mianese” properly…her message is…

“Hi grandma…

I talk about you going to the doctor a lot.

I know he is helping you to not be sick anymore.  I love you so much.

I am going to be the little mermaid for halloween.

I love mermaids.  Everynight, I fall asleep holding my movie or a book with a mermaid on it.

Mommy waits until I am asleep, and then takes it and puts it somewhere safe for me.  I miss you and we will come see you soon.”

and Adam’s butterflies are bringing loads of drooly kisses and baby hugs…

and then it was time to set our group of butterflies free…
we had thought of sending them each individually, but they decided they would stick together to safely make it to grandma’s…:)

mia didn’t quite wanna let go so ella helped with the release:)

and then they were off…

a little cheer and a few waves goodbye…

my girls we so excited to send their butterflies, but they did worry a little bit about them…

I turned around after Ella came back from chasing them and found my sweet girl in tears…

“our butterflies don’t have eyes, mommy.  How will they find their way to grandma?”

I told her our butterflies where magic…that they will know the way to grandma…that we are sending them with love and they will fly with their wings together to safely make it to her…

she kissed their cage and said “I love our butterflies”…

I told her they would make grandma very happy…

then I handed her adam…and he chased her tears away…

(and was a wee bit nervous to be outta my arms:))

Mom, we are sending our love…please watch out for our butterflies…we told them the way to your home…

…they will be very tired after their journey to you…please find them room in your butterfly garden…and take good care of them for us…

(fly safe butterflies…don’t forget our messages)

we love you…and are thinking of you today…

xoxo

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness!!
Ella, Ava, Mia, and Adam…
Thank you for your love and for making such beautiful butterflies for me!
Thank you for tieing them to such beautiful balloons!
The pictures of you, your balloons, and your butterflies are so pretty on your mommy’s blog.
I just went outside this morning to see if I can see my balloons and butterflies floating through the beautiful skies to me.
I just love your magical love for me, and YES, I can see my butterflies flying in the skies and the pretty balloons! Thank you so much. I am so very very happy.
Please know that I will always love each of you forever, too.
Love, Grandma

What a fabulous idea! It’s a fantastic way to help the kids really feel like their love and messages are going straight to their grandma. So fun! I hope she continues to feel better and fight that cancer right out of her body. Here’s to brave, strong parents/grandparents!
