…in love…
with these sneak peak images my sister sent me from our pics she took over thanksgiving…
after we drove up…jase and I ventured off with her on my parent’s ranch for a few in the purdy light…

this is like the first date we have had in a long time

gena, thank you for capturing our love…

and a sneak from the family location…i am in looooovvveeee…
these were the day after thanksgiving and I was hoping for sunlight…but it was hiding…but I couldn’t have planned it better…

overcast skies were beautiful and allowed us to venture off in any location we wanted…and at anytime…these were at noon…

can’t wait for her blog post in a few days! these are the only ones I have seen and can’t wait to see the ones of our whole family…I am gonna be plastering them on my walls!
thanks gena… (to contact gena for pictures…head on over here)
p.s. I will be drawing the winner for the Matilda Jane dress tomorrow nite!
Hope everyone had a FABULOUS thanksgiving…

so many things to be grateful for…

when you take the time to count your blessings…to see the good…to pull those things out among the inevitable balance of bad and hard things in life…

you really have reasons for thanksgiving…

i am thankful…for my health, my children, a good husband, for love, for my Mom’s strength…for the reality that she is a cancer survivor, I am thankful for the best parents I could ask for, for siblings I cherish…
I am thankful for chocolate, pink, antique lace, my camera and how it turns my creative inspirations into such a rewarding hobby for me, I am thankful for all the people who share their beauty with me…

i am thankful for my faith, for the guidance and perspective it brings…I can not imagine my life with out the saving grace of my savior and a father in Heaven who loves me…

as silly as it seems…I am thankful for my blog…
for the weapon it is for me to fight the daily battles that motherhood brings…
it is not easy, and I fail more than most of of you…esp. lately with 4 very active and often mischievous kiddos…:)
people ask me all the time how I do it…
I am so humbled by that…and feel embarrassed at times too…my experience of motherhood is no different than the rest…
I just choose to put the good here…to bring out the beauty, the joy, the happy parts…so that I can be inspired to see them…to appreciate them…
to give thanks for them…

you see…it is hard…brutually, frustating, and chaotic…
it is very real…and stressful…
but no good comes easy…not the kind that is really worth it…

and so today, I give thanks…

thanks that transend time…that inspires me to live with thanksgiving in my heart each day…

The reason for this shoot other than it has been too long since my camera has been on one of my own…
I was selected to participate in a photography contest with a few other photographers for a darling clothing line called Matilda Jane…

their stuff is so vintage and cute and I jumped at the opportunity when a friend told me about it..

We were all sent the identical dress and were told to style and photography it with our own personal twist…

here is mine…

kudos to my little model for her cooperation (you should have seen the 3 other rockstars behind the scenes while I managed this shoot all by myself…let’s just say, Ava and Mia have A LOT of energy)…
anyways, the grand prize is a all expense paid trip to the dress rehersal for the 2010 line…other prizes include gift certificates for the clothing line…

and in the spirit of Thanksgiving…we have a GIVEAWAY for you…

leave a comment here: tell me what you are thankful for…and I will enter your name into the drawing…

the girls have decided they would like to share…

this gorgeous Matilda Jane dress with the winner…

keep it for your little one (it is a size 4) or give it as a beautiful christmas gift…(we kept it clean and it is beautifully made)…

happy thanksgiving everyone…
may your holiday be blessed…

how could you not love to open up a blog page and see this little guy smiling right at ya?

saturday morning i spent a little time with these adorable kiddos…
Brighton and Brennen…

and their beautiful parents for a relaxed portrait session just in time for the holidays…

Erin and Jeff are a power couple…seriously…these two are super successful…they are outgoing, strong, good looking, and smart…
they work hard at what they do…

and I am sure they would agree that one of their hardest jobs…

is raising up this beautiful little family

I love this image of erin, she looks confident, radiant, and content…not to mention very pretty

and the beautiful ladies…Erin and Brighton…

I acted like I was melting to the ground in this image…anything to score a smile…and make a fool of myself!

keep working hard at what you do…and thank you for sharing your beautiful little ones with me…

happy holidays!

i am often taken back when I sit and go through images after a session…it is always late at night and the house is quiet…my brain is half competing for and against sleep, and despite being tired
…this is the time I really appreciate my little business…
I think sometimes it is easy to think…”they are just pictures”…when thinking about having portraits done…and decide it is not important or unneccesary…
but these pictures…to me…are truly an heirloom…

capturing moments for a little family in time…giving me 2 hours out of their day …commisioning and allowing me to portray who they are…as a family…it is a HUGE blessing to me…
and I know…that there are many factors that come into play: it is stressful, let me say that again…that it is or can be stressful
(it doesn’t need to be
) an investment, that kiddos may not perform the way we want them to, that the light may not be just right, the location fogged over, or our jeans may not be fitting exactly the way we want
…
but i never take for granted what a big deal that it is for me…to pull beauty out from every bit of them (not so hard with my gorgeous clients)
… and to create evidence of how blessed they are through the eyes of my camera…
to show them how beautiful their life is…
that is an heirloom…

I am taken back by this couple…
Kelly and Garreth
they are stunning…and their love is so real…they are such an incredible fit…

and they are the parents of one of the cutest little guys I have ever seen

Hudson is 1…and just like any 12 month old…he is on the go, curious, energetic, and the love of his parents lives…

I love that these 2 met and fell in love back in high school…
they got engaged in the same place as their first kiss…
and believe that wishes come true…

I love that ring Kelly wears and how it reminds her about a wish she made on it’s sign before she was pregnant with Hudson…she wished they would be blessed with a healthy baby…
that ring is an heirloom
I am sure that is just one of the many “wishes come true” that they have and will experience together…

Ok…the styling for this shoot…killing me…love love love what Dad wore…

almost…just as much as what mom wore…

kelly…may i just say that you are so beautiful…stylish…and gorgeous…well, I just did

yes girls, the sweater is from anthro…it is THAT sweater that we have all been drooling over…

working it…

i followed the fussy baby rule with this session…and ruled that all fussy babies must be hung upside down until they smiled…thank goodness he did or he would have been there a loooooong time!

poor babe was teething…but mom and dad inspired some killer smiles…

i think adam needs to go shopping with you little guy…i love your style

(on a photographers side note…I used the MOMtog unposing guide for part of this session and I love the way it helps you to get your clients to interact together…Drew B is the creator and I think it is great for breaking the ice and getting families to just be who they are…head on over and check it out! )

thanks so much guys for sharing your family with me…

for letting me capture your love…

mmm…mmmm…mmmm…good looks…

and slowing time for just a bit to see how beautiful your life is…

cherish eachother
