heirlooms…

i am often taken back when I sit and go through images after a session…it is always late at night and the house is quiet…my brain is half competing for and against sleep, and despite being tired :) …this is the time I really appreciate my little business…

I think sometimes it is easy to think…”they are just pictures”…when thinking about having portraits done…and decide it is not important or unneccesary…

but these pictures…to me…are truly an heirloom…

capturing moments for a little family in time…giving me 2 hours out of their day …commisioning  and allowing me to portray who they are…as a family…it is a HUGE blessing to me…

and I know…that there are many factors that come into play: it is stressful, let me say that again…that it is or can be stressful :) (it doesn’t need to be :) ) an investment, that kiddos may not perform the way we want them to, that the light may not be just right, the location fogged over, or our jeans may not be fitting exactly the way we want :)…

but i never take for granted what a big deal that it is for me…to pull beauty out from every bit of them (not so hard with my gorgeous clients) :)

… and to create evidence of how blessed they are through the eyes of my camera…

to show them how beautiful their life is…

that is an heirloom…

I am taken back by this couple…

Kelly and Garreth

they are stunning…and their love is so real…they are such an incredible fit…

and they are the parents of one of the cutest little guys I have ever seen :)

Hudson is 1…and just like any 12 month old…he is on the go, curious, energetic, and the love of his parents lives…

I love that these 2 met and fell in love back in high school…

they got engaged in the same place as their first kiss…

and believe that wishes come true…

I love that ring Kelly wears and how it reminds her about a wish she made on it’s sign before she was pregnant with Hudson…she wished they would be blessed with a healthy baby…

that ring is an heirloom :)

I am sure that is just one of the many “wishes come true” that they have and will experience together…

Ok…the styling for this shoot…killing me…love love love what Dad wore…

almost…just as much as what mom wore…

kelly…may i just say that you are so beautiful…stylish…and gorgeous…well, I just did :)

yes girls, the sweater is from anthro…it is THAT sweater that we have all been drooling over…

working it… :)

i followed the fussy baby rule with this session…and ruled that all fussy babies must be hung upside down until they smiled…thank goodness he did or he would have been there a loooooong time!

poor babe was teething…but mom and dad inspired some killer smiles…

i think adam needs to go shopping with you little guy…i love your style :)

(on a photographers side note…I used the MOMtog unposing guide for part of this session and I love the way it helps you to get your clients to interact together…Drew B is the creator and I think it is great for breaking the ice and getting families to just be who they are…head on over and check it out! )

thanks so much guys for sharing your family with me…

for letting me capture your love…

mmm…mmmm…mmmm…good looks…

and slowing time for just a bit to see how beautiful your life is…

cherish eachother :)

xoxo
