Who are they designed for? Photographers. Artists. Hobbyists. anyone with the love and passion for beautiful photography.

my babes on film…

i have been admiring the look and feel of film for a while now.  in fact, my very favorite photographers create the most beautiful photographs using this medium.  you can imagine how excited i was to finally take the plunge and invest in a film camera.  So, right before baby was born i was so excited to treat myself to my dream camera.  I knew it would take some time to learn how to use it but I couldn’t wait to try it out.  In the weeks before baby I took advantage of my downtime resting on the couch reading up on it.  It seemed daunting…shooting without the ability to have immediate feedback i was so used to on my digital gear, but at the same time it had a charm and antiquity to it that I couldn’t resist.  I played a little at home with wee baby brig and a few weeks after his birth, I was SO excited to take my little girls out for a shoot and experiment with the skills I had studied.  The whole approach is so much calmer and each exposure more thought through. i LOVE it!

Well, I got my scans back this week and it was like christmas morning opening the images…they are not perfect, but definitely get me excited to get out and shoot more.  The images produced really seem to help me create beauty the way I see and feel it…and what is more beautiful to a mother than her precious children…

so i share…my babes on film…i hope you enjoy

light…

there is something so tangible about great light…

it is inspiring to me…as it has this magical way of bringing out the beauty around me…

the way it glitters through tree branches, highlights a subject in its path, creates a warmth and heavenly glow, and gives almost anything the ability to shine…

these last two weekends i have been so lucky to team up with the beauty around me and some incredible light to shoot things that are pretty darn amazing…

sharing a sneak of some subjects my camera has seen and some beautiful light that has embraced them…

on the eve of a new school year i took my little ladies out on a whimsical and dreamy shoot…

i love how the light embraces mia here…

another year…another first…my mia starts kindergarten!

monday was an exciting day in our home!

back to school!

the girls all laid their clothes out the night before and to say the we ALL were excited for school to start would be an understatement…

my heart tugged a little with this one trailing her sisters out the door…

funny, cuz my friends asked me if I was gonna cry and i kinda smiled and said..”nah, I am a seasoned momma now.”  I really didnt think i would, but the evening before seeing all the backpacks in a row started the trend for tears.

mia walked into the room and saw me crying and she started to cry too and wrapped her arms around me and said…”i wanna stay home and be with you…”

I smiled through my tears and told her…”no way!  you are gonna rock out kindergarten!  mommy isn’t sad you are leaving…these tears are coming because I am feeling how much i love you and my heart is overflowing and bringing these tears out of my eyes.”  I didnt want her to think this was a sad thing…so i quickly dried my tears and we giggled and talked about all the fun she was gonna have.

i knew she was gonna be in good company and had 2 great examples to show her the way!

i made sure i kept my sunglasses on so she wouldnt see my tears when i saw her looking a little uncomfortable with this BIG day in her life…

but it didnt take long for her to warm up…

she was right at home in her classroom and LOVES her new teacher!

then it was time for “the kissing hand”

and then the goodbye…a little kiss from the kissing hand (i was REALLY glad i had my sunglasses on for this!!!) and mommy had to be brave, yet again, and leave another one of my precious little ones in her first classroom.

a sweet little kiss…

and a lump in my throat as i looked down to those sweet little hands wave goodbye…

i watched her bounce back to the carpet and my heart grew even a little bit bigger when this smile danced across the classroom…my mia was happy and secure and i knew everything was going to be ok

i dont know who was more excited at the pick up…

we are so proud of you mia!  i love you sweetheart…looking forward to watching you learn and grow…and rock out the kindergarten fashion world…

love you so much

xoxo
