Do you tape bottom of Tyvek?
Seal the DuPont™ Tyvek® around all electrical, HVAC and plumbing penetrations with DuPont™ Weatherization Sealant, DuPont™ Tyvek® Tape, or DuPont™ Flashing Systems products. Start taping or flashing at bottom of penetrations, shingling upper tape over bottom tape.
Do you tape horizontal seams on Tyvek?
The manufacturer recommends only taping the Tyvek HomeWrap seams.
How do you seal the bottom of Tyvek?
Seal the the Tyvek® WRB at the interior foundation using DuPont™ Residential Sealant (or recommended sealant), DuPont™ StraightFlash™, or DuPont™ Flashing Tape. When sealing directly to concrete, wood, or other rough surfaces using DuPont Self-Adhered Products, use DuPont™ Adhesive/ Primer (or recommended primer).
Does Tyvek need to be tight?
Not enough overlap If you want to make sure that your house is well protected from wind and water, your house wrap overlap must not be less than 6 inches and even then, you should tape the seam. This is the only way to be sure that you’ve made a weather-tight bond.
