Can you render over kingspan?
Applying Render to Kingspan. Kingspan K5 boards are ideal for use with a lightweight render on top, such as our Silicone Silicate render system. The Premium Basecoat should once again be used within the basecoat reinforcement layer; this should be applied up to 6mm thick with a Fibreglass Mesh embedded within it.
Is kingspan waterproof?
Kingspan thermapitch insulation board is a high performance rigid thermoset board with low thermal conductivity. This board is unaffected by air infiltration and water resistant.
How thick should my external wall insulation be?
between 50 and 100mm
The thickness of the insulation needs to be between 50 and 100mm and is usually installed where there are severe heating problems or the exterior of the building requires some form of other repair work providing the opportunity of adding insulation.
How do you insulate existing brick walls?
To improve energy efficiency, structural masonry buildings can be insulated, often by adding a layer of spray foam or rigid foam to the interior face of the wall. One problem with this method, however, is that it changes the vapor profile so that the wall can only dry to the outside.
Does Kingspan need an air gap?
The timbers must be deep enough to allow the desired thickness of Kingspan Kooltherm K112 Framing Board to be fitted between them along with a 25 mm (min.) air gap between the insulation layer and the brick wall.
Does Kingspan need a Vapour barrier?
Composite products. Composite products (such as Kingspan K118 Insulated Plasterboard) include integral moisture vapour control. As with any vapour control, workmanship is crucial. For example, taping and lapping joints for polythene, avoiding penetrations, and then sealing around any penetrations.
