Can you use regular oil for air filter?
ANY oil will work better than no oil on the air filter. It would only get sucked into the engine if you are dumb and use too much oil. A sticky oil will do a better job of trapping the smallest particles though.

I would definitely recommend buying this filter especially because of the price. Best bang for your buck compared to a K&N drop in filter. 18$ vs 50$ is a big difference and both filters do the same thing like increase airflow and is washable. So if your thinking of buying this filter I would say yes buy it!

If I was not able to get the actual oil myself, I would use automatic transmission fluid. Its similar to a 5wt hydraulic oil, because that’s basically what it is and how it’s used in an automatic. You don’t need much! Just drip or spray it on evenly until the filter soaks it up.
Is Spectre an n and k?
In 2011, K&N sued Spectre for false advertising and won (news here). A few years later, they actually bought Spectre. So as far as I’ve seen, K&N owns and manufactures both brands right now.
