Of these, more than 1000 students dropped out before ranking any programs, most because they did not get an interview. In the final tally, just over 3000 students matched with a PGY1 program. Let that sink in for a second. Based on 2016 numbers, the odds of getting into a residency are just a little better than 1 in 2.
How does PhORCAS match work?
If you’ve ranked a program #1 and the program also ranked you #1, you will be matched to that program. If you’ve ranked a program #1 and they have ranked you within the number of positions they have available (e.g., within the top 2 in a program with 2 positions), you will be matched to that program.
How do I get my transcripts from PhORCAS?
Contact the registrar at each institution you attended and request one transcript be sent to PhORCAS. You only need to submit one transcript from each school regardless of the number of programs you’re applying to.
How many interviews do pharmacy residency programs offer?
Candidates will be invited to interview in order of final ranking. A total of 5 applicants will be interviewed for each residency position offered.

Even though 3 recommendations is the standard, it may be beneficial to ask 4 or 5 individuals to write letters of recommendation for you, in case one or 2 are unable or unwilling to do so. You read that correctly: some preceptors, mentors, and colleagues may not want to write letters or recommendations.
Can I apply to phorcas after the application deadline?
However, PhORCAS will not allow any new applications to a program after their deadline has been met. PhORCAS will allow late transcripts and references to still be submitted to an application after the application deadline for a program.
